Let's start with what Blanklines does not have. We do not stock a dedicated modest activewear range. No long-sleeve base layers, no sports hijabs, no tunic-length tops. If a supplier in Dubai tells you they have "modest gym uniforms" in stock at a one-piece minimum, ask to see the range before you believe it.
What we do have is a stocked catalogue of premium blanks in Dubai with a lot of oversized, full-length and layerable pieces in it. Put together with a little care, those pieces make a team kit that most staff and members who want more coverage will be happy to wear. This guide shows you how: which blanks work, how to build three looks, what each costs, and where you will still need to shop elsewhere.
Why UAE gyms are asking for this now
The demand is not a niche. Female participation in intense physical activity across the Middle East rose from 20% in 2019 to 31% in 2024, against a global move from 22% to 25%. Fitness First runs 13 women-only gyms or facilities with women-only areas in the UAE; FitnGlam alone serves more than 8,000 members. GymNation's 2026 Health & Fitness Report, built on 15,322 respondents across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, found that 53% of women prefer or require women-only training spaces and 46% call them essential. Sixty percent of UAE women in the same survey reported feeling intimidated in the gym.
Every one of those women-only floors has coaches, front-desk staff and members. A share of them want coverage that a standard cropped tee and bike short does not give. Khaleej Times put it plainly in February: many women still "layer standard sportswear with additional clothing to meet modesty requirements". That is exactly the problem a well-built team kit solves before it happens.
If you run a ladies-only gym, a women's studio, a corporate wellness programme or a mixed floor with a women's section, this is a uniform decision you will make. The question is whether you make it once, properly, or piece by piece from a mall.
What "modest-friendly" means for a uniform
It is not a religious ruling and it is not one fixed look. Modesty is set by the wearer, and the level differs from person to person. What a uniform can do is give people a set of options that cover the common asks, so nobody has to bring their own layer from home. Those asks, in practice, are:
- A top that covers the hips, loose enough not to cling when someone bends or lifts.
- Full-length bottoms, either fitted and opaque or loose and straight.
- Sleeves, ideally past the elbow.
- A layering piece that goes over a standard tee for staff who want it and stays off for staff who don't.
- Dark, opaque fabric in the pieces that stretch.
Build a kit with those five in mind and you cover most of the room. Build it with choice, so the same branded crest sits on a cropped tee for one coach and an oversized hoodie for the next, and you cover the rest. The best gym uniforms in the UAE already work this way: one identity, several silhouettes.
The stocked blanks that work
These are the pieces from the women's activewear and streetwear ranges that do the coverage job as they come, without alteration. Every spec here is from the live product page; we have not added anything.
Tops and layers
Flux Oversize Hoodie. The obvious first pick. An oversized, off-the-shoulder fit in 100% cotton loopback fabric at 355gsm, with a kangaroo pocket and a lined hood with drawstrings and metallic eyelets. The oversize cut sits well past the hip and does not cling. The women's Flux Oversize Hoodie in black is AED 260, stocked in black, light grey, khaki, off-white and oatmeal; the men's cut is the same price and works as a unisex option for anyone who wants an even longer body.
Heritage Crewneck Pullover. The same loopback cotton without the hood: oversized fit, round crew neckline, matching rib at neck, cuffs and hem, straight hem. For a reception or studio setting where a hood reads too casual, the Heritage Crewneck in light grey at AED 260 is the cleaner layer.
Relaxed Tee. For a top that is not a sweat, the Relaxed Tee is the piece: a slightly oversized fit in 230gsm 100% cotton with a soft brushed hand feel and a straight hem. Heavier and longer than a standard gym tee, sized XS to XXXL. The Relaxed Tee in black is AED 200. This is the tee we would put under the Flux hoodie so the two-piece look reads as one uniform whether the hoodie is on or off.
Endurance Full Zip Jacket. A long-sleeve warm-up jacket with a full zip and a high neck, in high GSM synthetic fabric with a brushed finish and antibacterial and anti-odour treatment, relaxed fit, raglan sleeves, two zipped pockets. It is the only long-sleeve performance top in the women's range, and the high neck and full zip give more coverage than any hoodie. The women's Endurance Full Zip in black is AED 260. Our jackets and half-zips guide covers the range in more detail; check sizes with us before you plan a whole team around it.
Bottoms
Motion Leggings. Fitted full-length leggings in high GSM synthetic fabric with antibacterial and anti-odour treatment, a high waistband and full-length coverage. Paired with an oversized top they are the standard answer for coaches who train on the floor. Motion Leggings in navy are AED 180; black and storm grey are also stocked. If opacity under load matters to your team, order one pair and squat-test it in your own lighting before the bulk order. Our leggings guide explains what to check.
Signature Track Pant. For staff who want a loose, non-clinging bottom that still performs: a regular fit in mid-weight synthetic quick-dry fabric at 220gsm with cooling touch, an elasticated waistband with drawcord, elasticated cuffs, mesh-lined side pockets and an extra zipped pocket. The women's Signature Track Pant in black is AED 220. This is the piece we would put on floor and front-desk staff in most gyms, and it is what the joggers and track pants guide recommends for uniforms generally.
Supreme Sweat Pants. The loungewear-weight option: premium 100% cotton loopback at 355gsm, elasticated waistband with drawstring, relaxed fit, elasticated rib cuffs. Best for reception, studios and cooler months. Women's Supreme Sweat Pants in black are AED 240, with khaki, off-white, light grey and oatmeal in stock.
The layering trick
Some members and staff prefer shorts but want a layer underneath. The Recharge Cycling Shorts are a fitted cycling style in high GSM synthetic fabric with a brushed supersoft hand feel, a high waistband and an inner leg gusset, AED 150 in black or storm grey. Worn under the Classic Sweat Shorts (100% cotton loopback, 355gsm, relaxed lounge fit, AED 180) they give a loose short over a full inner layer. It is not everyone's choice, but it is a real option from stock and worth offering.
Front desk
For reception and membership staff who want a collar, the Elemental Button Up Performance Polo is a regular-fit polo in lightweight synthetic quick-dry fabric with a three-button fastening and a straight hem. The women's Elemental Polo in navy is AED 160 and pairs with the Signature Track Pant for a full-length front-of-house look. Our polo guide covers rotation and branding.
What to avoid from the same catalogue
Honesty cuts both ways. The Self Love Cropped Tee and the Epic Cropped Zip Hoodie are two of our core pieces and they are not modest-friendly: both are cropped by design. The tank tops and sports tops are sleeveless. None of that makes them wrong for your gym, but keep them as the alternative silhouette for staff who want them, not the default for a coverage-first kit.
Three kit builds, costed
Prices are current stocked prices per blank, before branding. Branding is quoted per order.
Floor coach, full coverage. Women's Flux Oversize Hoodie (AED 260) over a Relaxed Tee (AED 200) with Motion Leggings (AED 180). AED 640 per set; the hoodie comes off in a warm class and the tee still covers the hip. For a coach working five shifts a week, plan two hoodies, three tees and three leggings.
Studio and reception. Heritage Crewneck Pullover (AED 260) with the women's Signature Track Pant (AED 220). AED 480 per set. Loose top, loose bottom, no cling anywhere, quick-dry on the bottom half so it survives a day on the floor.
Front desk. Women's Elemental Polo (AED 160) with the Signature Track Pant (AED 220). AED 380 per set, the same combination our gym uniform costs guide prices for a standard front-of-house uniform. Add the Endurance Full Zip (AED 260) as the optional layer for staff who want sleeves and a high neck.
A worked example. Twelve staff: four coaches on the full build with the rotation above (AED 1,660 each), four studio staff with one crew and two track pants each (AED 700), four front-desk staff with three polos and two track pants each (AED 920). That is AED 13,120 in blanks, before embroidery, which is where the kit becomes yours. Drop the coaches' second hoodie and it is under AED 12,100.
Fabric, heat and the UAE calendar
Coverage and climate pull against each other, so plan the kit by season. Cotton loopback at 355gsm is warm; the Flux hoodie and Supreme Sweat Pants belong in air-conditioned studios year-round and on outdoor floors from October to April. The synthetic pieces (Motion Leggings, Signature Track Pant, Endurance jacket, Elemental polo) are the summer core because they are quick-dry and treated against odour. If your gym runs outdoor sessions, the Relaxed Tee plus Signature Track Pant is the most coverage you can give a coach in August without putting them in loopback cotton. Our guide to the best fabrics for activewear goes deeper on why.
Colour matters too. Dark bottoms hold their opacity better than light ones as the fabric stretches, which is why we would put a coverage-first team in the black or navy leggings and keep the light colours (off-white, oatmeal) for the loose-fit pieces. Order the samples in the colours you actually intend to buy, not the ones that photograph best.
Branding a modest-friendly kit
Nothing changes about branding except placement. On an oversized hoodie the crest goes left chest or centre chest, with a larger back print if you want it; on the Heritage crew and Relaxed Tee, left chest embroidery is the cleanest. Embroidery holds up best on the cotton pieces; for the synthetic track pant, polo and leggings use DTF or heat transfer rather than direct-to-garment, which does not take on synthetic fabric. Our print method guide explains the choice.
Branding minimums on a Blanklines order: embroidery from around 5 pieces, print from around 10, woven labels from 25 to 50 and custom packaging from around 50. A women's studio with six staff can be fully branded on its first order. Blanks themselves have no minimum: the order starts at one piece.
How to order it without guessing
Order one of each piece you are considering and put them on real staff. Two things to watch: does the top still cover the hip when the wearer reaches overhead, and do the leggings stay opaque in a deep squat under your lighting. Both take five minutes to check and neither can be judged from a product photo. Our guide to ordering sample blanks before bulk covers the rest of the process.
Then size the team. Loose-fit pieces are forgiving, so most staff can be sized from a single fit session; fitted leggings are not, so take waist and inseam preferences per person. Because we stock in Dubai, a size run of blanks ships in 1–2 business days in Dubai (same-day if ordered before 10 AM) and 2–3 business days to the other emirates. Branded orders take 3–5 business days in Dubai after design approval and payment confirmation, 5–7 to other emirates. We also ship to Saudi Arabia and the wider GCC; our Saudi sourcing guide covers what to expect on that route.
Where you will still need to shop elsewhere
We said it at the top and we will say it again. If your kit needs a sports hijab, a long-sleeve performance base layer or a tunic-length top, Blanklines does not stock it today. Buy those from a specialist, then bring the branding brief to us so the crest, the thread colour and the placement match across everything. A team kit built from two suppliers with one design still reads as one team. A kit built from one supplier who pretended to have everything reads as a compromise.
Blanklines is a supplier of premium blanks in Dubai, not a manufacturer: we hold stock, you add your identity, and the minimum is one piece. The complete guide to premium blank activewear and streetwear explains how the model works. Whether a dedicated modest range joins the catalogue is a range decision we are looking at; until it does, this article is the honest answer.
Frequently asked questions
Does Blanklines supply modest activewear in the UAE?
Not as a dedicated range. We stock standard premium blanks in Dubai, and several of them (oversized hoodies and crews, the Relaxed Tee, full-length leggings, track pants and sweat pants, a full-zip high-neck jacket) work for modest-friendly team kit as they come. We do not stock sports hijabs, long-sleeve base layers or tunic tops.
What is the best modest-friendly gym uniform combination from stock?
For coaches, the women's Flux Oversize Hoodie over a Relaxed Tee with Motion Leggings. For reception and studio staff, the Heritage Crewneck Pullover with the Signature Track Pant. Both give hip coverage on top and full length below, and both can be branded from five pieces.
How much does a modest-friendly staff kit cost in Dubai?
Per set of blanks, between AED 380 (polo and track pant) and AED 640 (hoodie, tee and leggings) at current stocked prices, before branding. A twelve-person team with a working rotation across the three builds comes to about AED 13,000 in blanks.
Are the leggings opaque enough for a coverage-first kit?
Our Motion Leggings are a high GSM synthetic in black, navy and storm grey. Opacity under load depends on size, stretch and lighting, so we tell every buyer the same thing: order one pair, squat-test it in your own studio, then place the bulk order.
Can I mix modest-friendly pieces with our existing gym uniform?
Yes, and you should. Keep one crest, one thread colour and one placement rule, then let staff choose the silhouette: cropped tee for one coach, oversized hoodie for the next. One identity across several fits is how the best UAE gym uniforms already work.
