A few rules worth writing down:
- If your customer wears the tee under a layer, go midweight. If they wear it as the hero piece, go heavyweight.
- Embroidery below 240 GSM tends to pucker on thin fabric. If embroidery is your main decoration method, start at 240 GSM.
- DTG reproduces best on 180–220 GSM combed cotton. Go too heavy and the fibres resist ink absorption.

Screen Print and DTG
Screen print is the workhorse for bulk runs — lower cost per piece past ~50 units, sharp edges, high opacity, and decades of colour-stability data. DTG (direct-to-garment) prints directly onto the fabric and is built for low-volume, high-colour, photographic-style artwork.

Embroidery
Embroidery earns its premium on heavyweight fabric. On a 240 GSM tee, a clean chest logo reads as tailored; on a 160 GSM tee, the same logo pulls the fabric and looks puckered.
